Return-to-Sport
Why your care team should stay connected
A useful handoff helps a return-to-golf plan respect the guidance already in place.
Start with the existing plan
A golfer returning after surgery may already have a surgeon, physical therapist, and golf instructor involved. Magnolia’s first question is how an additional service would fit that plan, not how to replace it.
Restrictions and clearance remain specific to the procedure and recovery. They should be obtained and respected before planning an assessment or progression.
Share what changes decisions
With appropriate authorization, a useful clinical handoff can identify the reason for the referral, current restrictions, relevant findings, and the proposed next step. It should also make unresolved questions clear.
Communication may occur at intake, when an important change occurs, or when the plan concludes. The timing should follow clinical need rather than a marketing promise of identical milestones for every patient.
Avoid a promised return date
A return-to-golf plan should account for the individual’s recovery, medical guidance, examination, and response to appropriate activity. A single movement score or asymmetry measurement cannot independently establish readiness.
The goal of documentation is clarity: what is known, what remains uncertain, who is responsible for the next decision, and what happens next.
