Junior golfers

A movement plan for a developing golfer.

An evaluation that considers the player’s age, growth, activities and goals, with findings explained to the golfer and family.

Why a developing golfer needs a different evaluation

A junior golfer is not a small adult. Growth changes limb lengths, strength and coordination faster than swing habits can adapt, and a one sided sport practiced seriously through those years shapes the body asymmetrically. Neither of those is alarming; both are worth measuring, because the findings guide training choices that are cheap now and expensive later. Our journal covers why tracking asymmetry in junior golfers matters.

What the evaluation covers

Daniel begins with the player's goals, golf and training history, other sports and anything the player or family has noticed. The movement assessment is chosen for the individual and their age: rotation, hinge and balance patterns, strength appropriate to stage, and any symptomatic areas examined clinically. Growth stage matters throughout, because a finding that is normal mid growth spurt reads differently in a physically mature player.

What the research adds

Studies of skilled junior golfers show clubhead speed developing alongside lower body physical characteristics, which is a reason to build athletic foundations rather than chase swing speed in isolation. And the injury research is clear that golf injury is dose related at every age: volume spikes are the most consistent modifiable risk factor. A measured baseline makes both conversations concrete: what to train, and how much golf the current body is ready to absorb. The numbers live in our swing speed data page and injury statistics review.

What the player and family receive

An explanation of the findings in language the player can use, a written report, and personalized exercises with clear instructions. With appropriate permission, relevant findings can be shared with the player's coach, so instruction and physical development pull together. The report also becomes a baseline: repeated over time, it shows how the player's movement is changing through growth, which is information almost no junior program has.
